Native New Mexican.  U.S. Army Veteran.  Traveled abroad, love the outdoors, and currently reside in Albuquerque, NM. 

When did you start triathlon:  April 2005


Athletic Background: 

  • 1981 United States Amateur Athletic Union – Junior Olympian, (AAU) Junior Olympic Regionals (100m, 200m).

  • Sports throughout middle and high school:  Football, basketball & track.

  • 1984-1987 State Track Championships (400m, 400m relay, 1600m relay).

  • Competitor in multiple 5k, 10k, half marathon, marathon, quadrathan, and 55k ultra-marathon races.

  • Top age group finisher in the Alcatraz Challenge. 

  • Competitor of all triathlon distances (Sprint, Olympic, half Ironman 70.3 and full Ironman 140.6). 

  • Member of Black Dog Triathlon Team – Served as Event Committee Member 2011-2014.

  • Member Red, White, & Blue (RWB).

  • Qualifier of USAT 2014, 2023, 2024 Nationals and 2014 - Ironman All World Athlete (AWA-Bronze).

  • Official Coach for University of New Mexico (UNM) Lobo Triathlon 2017 to 2023.

  • Beta tester for Polar (Sports training devices).

  • Age Group competitor - USAT National Championships 2023. Milwaukee, WI.


Coaching goals:  I approach coaching as a means to working with athletes of all ability levels in developing their individual talents to excel in all elements of fitness.  The application of versatile methods to increase stamina, agility, strength, power, and mental toughness are my number one goal in order to assist athletes achieve their aspirations.  Furthermore, instilling passion to meet race designated fitness goals or personal challenges is equally important.
